Whether sliding over rocks or hitting a surprisingly deep pothole, many of your vehicles most expensive components are completely exposed below and underbody damage is costly. Protect your investment with RCI skids, the ultimate defense for all on and off-road hazards.
Many Tundra and Sequoia drivers have been looking for skid plates for daily driving, overlanding, and offroad. Whether you use your vehicle for work or play, we have an option that will work for your application. RCI’s Tundra skid plates are available in two popular options:
10ga Steel– Great all-purpose protection, and the best value for the money. These make a great upgrade whether you already have the stock skid plates, or have nothing at all. Our 10 gauge skid plates are far tougher than OEM and provide significantly more coverage. WEIGHS 82LBS
1/4” Aluminum– Excellent all around protection for daily drivers, and much stronger than factory skid plates. Rust and corrosion resistant aluminum means they require no paint finish prior to installation. The aluminum material is substantially lighter than steel and thanks to its extra thickness it is just as strong. WEIGHS 55LBS

OK, so I installed the engine skid plate in January 2024 on my 2007 Tundra 5.7 SR5 DC 4×4. I got the 10ga Steel Powder Coated plate with the oil filter access panel so I can change oil without taking the whole shield off, and I was profoundly impressed with this shield, the quality and workmanship is excellent. I had previously installed a CAT guard/shield for theft protection and after installing this shield it just didn’t set well with me to have a sub-standard CAT guard on there that wouldn’t do much to protect the trans & transfer case, plus the old guard didn’t extend over the resonators after the CAT’s. So I ordered the Transmission/Transfer Case shield with the 4 piece CAT guard set for a matching full protection set, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I installed everything myself in my driveway using ramps, and I’m 66 years old! Installation was simple and straight forward thanks to the excellent design and all the necessary hardware included. I’ve owned this truck since it was new in Feb 2007, and it’s been a show truck at SEMA 3 years in a row 2007, 08 & 09 for a Leveling Kit company I was a part owner in. We did a bunch of mods to it back then, and I’ve actually done some updating on it the past couple of years, and this one fit right in with it’s high quality. The 2nd generation Tundra’s are great trucks, and I highly recommend this addition to anyone who has one.

Installed about a year and a half ago on a 2017 Tundra. I got the steel skid plates for engine, transmission/transfer case, fuel tank plus straps, and rear diff. I do quite a bit of off-roading and have kept the stock suspension. If I could post photos I would, these skid plates are amazing! Most recently I hit a rock I thought I would clear with the angled front skid plate. Dented the front and bottom but no warping around the mounts and oil filter plate. Stopped my truck going at a walking pace and you can barely tell. Worth every penny. I will say at stock height the transmission/transfer case skid plate does reduce the break over clearance by about an inch or so, and there is a clear point where you scrape but no “damage” to anything but the powder coat. Installation isn’t difficult but having an extra set of hands makes it much easier. I haven’t re torqued any of the bolts yet but nothing has come loose or rattles. I expect these to last as long as my truck.

2018 Tundra. Went with the 1/4” aluminum, powder coated. Easy install and they’ve treated me well so far. No dents so far, which is my primary concern since alum is softer than steel. Time will tell. My opinion is if your skids will be taking constant, heavy abuse, you should consider steel over aluminum. Awesome skids, wouldn’t go with any other company and I recommend them to every one. I Also have the steel gas tank skid with RCI’s tank straps and just purchased the steel rear diff skid. Thanks RCI!

Premium product! Just installed the Engine/Tranny/T-case package on my 2021 Tundra SR5 Double Cab. 90 minute installation by myself with car ramps. Fit and finish are excellent, as is the design. Fits nice and close to bottom of frame and components. I went with black aluminum and it looks great. I’d recommend using a floor jack and getting a flat (open-end) wrench with a 14mm ratchet on one end. If the ratchet end pivots, even better. Lowes had a set of 6 on sale for $49. Good for rear bolts on engine plate and a lifesaver on the rear skid plate. No more worries on those fireroad washouts and rocky creek crossings! I don’t want to run a lift as I do too much highway driving. This is just the ticket for peace of mind.
