The quality of the skid is top-notch. I got the aluminum version and it’s incredible. However, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. If it came with a decent set of instructions, it would be 5 star. Few tips. You need to loosen the middle and rear bolts of the engine skip, not just the rear ones. You need to back them out as far as you can go without them falling off. You need something to wedge between the engine skid and the truck to keep it pushed down to install the transmission skid. You will also have to remove the big bolts and giant washers on the back of the engine skid and replace it with the bracket and smaller bolts that come with the transmission skid. You will also need someone to help you and you will need something to rest the transmission skid on at the installed height, or close to it, in order to complete installation. I used some several blocks of wood. You definitely need to install the frame crossmember bracket onto the transmission skid plate instead of installing it onto the frame first and then attaching the skid to the bracket. It is impossible to complete installation if you put the bracket on the crossmember first because you can not physically reach to top of the bolt because the transfer case is in the way . And if you are installing the cat guards, there are errors in those instructions as well. The 2 smaller rear guards need to be installed in the opposite direction of what is shown in the diagram otherwise they contact the frame and will not fit around the frame crossmember. Overall, installation took about 3-4 hours for the transmission skid and cat guards, but should have only taken about 1 hour if it weren’t for having to redo multiple steps 2-3 times to figure out what would work properly.

Very tight tolerances along the cross member. These will definitely deter any cat thieves. I would highly recommend getting the cat guards with transmission plate if you are already running a RCI front skid.

Overall I’m happy with the coverage and fitment. Cost was very reasonable, a lot cheaper than my deductible if my cats get stolen. I have them mounted to an older RCI trans skid, so I had to drill the holes in order to mount the cat guards, which wasn’t bad with a good set of drill bits. The hardest part was dropping the RCI trans skid to mount the cat guards to it. The directions were fairly clear and straightforward, just make sure you get the driver/passenger side orientation correct. The only thing I didn’t like, which is why I gave 4 stars and not 5, was the new M8 bolts and retrofit mount plate that goes above the crossmemeber that bolts the engine and trans skid plates together. I wasn’t able to tighten the M8 bolts as tight as the old carriage bolts they replaced because the retrofit mount plate starts to bend. I was able to get them tight, just not as tight as I wanted. The head of the M8 bolts is also exposed to impacts, so I may install a set of bolt head protectors.
