Looks good pretty easy to install. Makes changing oil kinda difficult. Can’t completely remove drain plug or it over shoots the opening for the drain. Also makes a mess when removing filter. Started taking the filter off from the topside since it’s now difficult to when plates are in place.

I bought the complete 1/4″ raw aluminum kit for my 2019 F-150 XLT 4×4 with 3.5L Ecoboost. Great product. Easy to install. My only recommendation is that a removable panel on the front engine skid plate to allow access for the oil filter removal would be great. You are not changing the oil filter without removing the front engine skid plate. At least, I can’t access the oil filter from the top. I’ve broken speed clips from repeated bolt removal/tightening and I’m not using an air wrench.

1/4” Aluminum Black Full skid and Catalytic converter skids for 2022 F-150. Really should be 5 stars because it is a well built awesome product. Customer service was quick to help. Don’t hesitate to buy, but my experience was a little frustrating.
They shipped the wrong front plate brackets. One was wrong and it took me forever to figure out it was wrong. Was all packed correctly, so I thought it was me. Called, took pics, emailed them. I also asked for two other speed clips for the brackets. They shipped the correct bracket but the wrong size speed clips! How does this happen, again?
The speed clips are not the best. Later, after installation, I took a few bolts off to adjust stuff and couldn’t get the bolts to thread back on the clips. Took the clips off and they were bent. These were torqued to the right spec. I had to take those off and use the original Ford clips. Who cares, but it was time consuming and frustrating. Might go back and switch out all the clips to original ones so a mechanic doesn’t have any issues.
The written instructions are some help but some are wrong. Go with your gut and knowledge. Too confusing to explain but the catalytic converter instructions to measure are wrong. Transmission plate picture of the silver mounting plate says for 2015 only. You obviously see you need it for the 2022. Updated instructions are needed.
Still, great product and appreciated customer service even though things were wrong.

Great skid plates and easy installation. More pictures on the instructions would be nice, but I understand it is a hard area to get pictures of without a full car lift. The written descriptions are very helpful. Like someone else said the hardest part was inserting the front clips, I lost one inside the frame somewhere but luckily I had extra since some clips were already installed on my truck. Using a flat head screw driver helped to get the clips in place easier. I was able to install the front plate without removing the air dam on my 2023 F-150, it is very flexible plastic so I just pulled the plastic a little at a time and worked the plate in place. I drove my truck up on make shift ramps of 2×6’s stacked 3 high which gave me plenty of room to roll under the truck with a floor creeper holding the plates on my chest and setting them in place.

Great Product and easy to install.
The full skid plate installation only took me about an hour and a half in my driveway. The hardest part of the whole job was inserting the front two clips. Everything else lined up really well and the skid plates look great. The front bash plate is very subtle and hides the lower part of the frame. That doesn’t look good when the air dam is removed. Front end of the truck looks a lot better, but it’s not very noticeable if you don’t know what you’re looking at. After removing the Ford covers and looking at what they’re protecting, ie power steering unit etc, I am glad I have a better skid plate there. The felt panels really don’t do much for protection.

I’ve been wanting to be able to really protect the bottom of my Truck. I installed the full kit and it looks amazing. It took me about 1 1/2 to do the whole bottom, the 30 minutes was to do preventive maintenance and clean and spray rust-oleum all over.
RCI made it simple, you can reuse existing hardware and installation was easy.

I have the full aluminum setup on my 2022 F150. Needed the tank straps to mount the tank plate. Everything went well. Used a drive-on lift for install and was very easy. I think the catalytic guards should be integral not separate pieces. Otherwise a high quality product that fits perfectly.

I got the 1/4″ raw aluminum full package for my F-150 and they look great, we will see how they hold up. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because the instructions for installation were terrible and they didn’t even include the torque specs for the bolts. I emailed RCI to get torque specs and to this day have not heard back. I did end up calling them and the guy that I talked to was extremely nice. He gave me to torque specs, but said torquing certainly wasn’t necessary and just “good and tight” would work. Good and tight is extremely subjective and could lead to all sorts of issues over and under. They need to revamp the instructions to make them more clear (a diagram at the least) and include the torque specs (there is a reason every other bolt on a truck has a spec).

I installed the aluminum skid plates on my 22 Lariat 3.5 EB today, everything went perfect, did not need to remove the air dam, everything fit just right. I was able to install them in less than 2 hours by myself. Thanks RCI. i’ll be ordering the cat guards soon 🙂

I have a 2022 F150 and purchased the full skid plate package to replace the OEM “stupid” fiberboard baffles that they put under the truck to cut on noise and air turbulence. Being in the midwest, I went with the raw aluminum for corrosion resistance and weight. The install was not too bad but does take some laying out all the parts and thinking it through. Instructions could be better.
Giving this four stars because the transmission plate is narrow and would be better served if it mounted between the frame rails, side to side. Also, the front plate DOES interfere with the front, retractable air dam.
Not looking forward to my next oil change. I would hope that they could have come up with a better solution for oil filter and drain plug access.

A huge upgrade over the flimsy fabric stock covers. I feel a lot more protected, especially the plastic oil pan. Materials are high quality and the finishes on mine were perfect. Install took about 1.5 hours and very straightforward and easy enough for one person to do. I highly recommend.

I ordered the full skid plate package to replace the fiberglass stock skid plates that had been damaged. It did take a couple weeks to get them, but once I received them I was able to install them with ease and in just over an hour for the entire package. They are very heavy duty but easy enough to install without a ton of extra equipment needed.

I just installed this full kit on my 2021 F-150 (5.0 V8). Everything assembled as intended except the front stand off brackets for the front engine skid plate. The slots on the brackets were not spaced properly to allow 2 bolts to attach to the frame rail. I could get 1 slot to line up and the other one was over the access hole for sliding the 2nd U-clip, not where the threaded portion of the clip would be when installed (slot to slot distance would need to be wider). So each side is attached to the frame rail with 1 bolt instead of 2. It seems to be rigid enough, but it would be nice to have both attachments to the frame rails.
The other fitment issue (which was declared in the instructions) was with the front air dam. My truck has a 2nd air dam mounted behind the primary air dam on the bottom of the the bumper. When driving at speeds over 40 MPH, the 2nd air dam lowers behind the front air dam on electric servos for fuel economy. It’s very easy to remove (3 screws each on a servo mounted bracket behind the bumper). I may do some trimming and see if I can get it to raise and lower with clearance to the front engine skid plate. If I plan to do some serious off-roading I could remove it in about 5 minutes. Same with the primary air dam, I’ll remove that if needed, but I’ll try to maintain the fuel economy benefits as I’ll be on road more than off.
The plates are very sturdy and far more durable than the factory offering, and the coverage is much better. Oil changes will be a bit of a challenge (access to the front-mounted oil filter is a bit constrained with the engine skid plate), but can be done. The fumoto valve and a hose definitely helps. Overall a very good package.

Had to drill holes in the front bracket to fit my 2021 F-150. Also, just had my first oil change and the dealer said the window is In the wrong place and they had to almost remove all of the plates just to change the oil. Other than that, it’s a well made.

I got the raw aluminum full skid package and it is awesome. Reason I gave a 4 stars because there is no opening or cut out for oil filter for replacement (maybe make a trap door similar to the oil pan area). Replacing oil filter will require to remove the front plate.
Fil –
These are by far the best skid plates around. I’ve had the full steel ones on my 2016 F150 for 4 yrs now and I just ground and painted them as they were rusting as expected. They’re still solid and I’m sure I’ll beat on them for another 4yrs! Only disappointing thing is that I just noticed that it now comes with the transfer case skid and not sure if i just didn’t get it or it wasn’t part of the kit at the time.

The black steel full kit looks amazing and is very easy to install on the 2019 F150. It took me about an hour and a half start to finish, solo with no lift. Start from the front and don’t tighten anything (including the mounting brackets) all the way until all your plates are installed and then tighten from the back to the front, pushing all of the plates forward as you go to make sure they are all the way in the “sandwich” of the plate in front. Looking at the downloadable instructions (for the clearer color photos) might help if you are unsure of anything. I expect much better protection than stock skid plates and look forward to climbing some slopes that my previous F150 couldn’t handle. Thanks RCI!
