Chris’s 2nd Gen Tundra Build List

My name is Chris, and I am the Engineering Manager at RCI Offroad. I have worked for RCI for a little over 2.5 years. I love being outdoors—dirt biking, snowboarding, mountain biking, and camping. My real passion is building. Before my time at RCI, I built camper vans at DW Design and a few other personal trucks, a 2006 Tundra, and a 1974 Power Wagon.

Having previously owned a first-gen Tundra, I recently made the decision to upgrade to a second-gen model this past year. The Tundra, with its formidable power, effortlessly allows me to tow my boat or dirt bike trailer to any destination, conquering highways with ease, particularly along the challenging I-70. Having the large rear seat in CrewMax is a great way for my dog to join the adventures.

Of course, no journey is without its challenges, and in the case of a wider truck like the Tundra, one must contend with the inevitable Rocky Mountain pinstripes. However, given that most of my off-road adventures take place in Moab, this was a minor concern, easily outweighed by the overall performance and features of the vehicle.

In essence, my Tundra has become more than just a vehicle; it’s a companion on my journeys, offering power, style, and reliability in every adventure. It has been an absolute joy to build and wheel. I look forward to many more add-ons and adventures…

  1. great looking rig. going to add that same bumper to my tundra what spring rate are you running on your kings?

  2. Love the rig. Any clearance issues with those 37″?

  3. Hi Chris,
Just wanted to let you know I like your tundra. RCI makes nice products. I have a 2014 tundra with a 3.5 RC lift and 35” tires. I have the engine skid, transmission/transfer case skid, cat guards and rear differential skid. Soon I’m gonna order the gas tank skid. In the fall I’ll order the rock sliders. Seems like there’s always something to do with a truck.
